This is a Grampian Regional Equality Council (GREC) project supported by the Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire and Moray Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund.
Grampian Health & Diversity Network is an initiative that looks to empower community members from ethnic minorities to become health champions for their communities by receiving and sharing key health-related information, and providing opinions to improve health and social care services in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray.
Health champions receive and have direct access to key information on health-related issues and services that communities are interested in working on. This includes information regarding mental health and wellbeing, keeping an active lifestyle, prevention and screening programmes, and vaccination, to mention a few. Health champions can share all this information with family, friends and neighbours, and have the opportunity to give opinions to improve health and social care services. Training and learning opportunities are also available for health champions.
