Aberdeen Equalities Assembly 2026

As part of Hate Crime Awareness Week 2026, GREC collaborated with Aberdeen City Council to host the first Aberdeen Equalities Assembly, with support from Victim Support Scotland and Police Scotland. The event brought together public sector organisations, third sector partners and members of the public to discuss equality and inclusion for people with all protected characteristics.

Discussions explored issues including unconscious bias, hate crime and how to report it, misinformation, partnership working and the importance of listening to people with lived experience.

These themes reflect GREC’s ongoing work across the North East of Scotland, from supporting people experiencing discrimination and providing interpreting, translation and counselling services to delivering training and improving access to health information through our Health and Diversity Project.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Assembly, providing a valuable opportunity to share experiences, strengthen partnerships, and explore practical ways to address barriers and improve inclusion across our communities.
