Counselling Service proudly launched the New Scots Project in Aberdeenshire area
for Young People Counselling & Children Play Therapy

The circumstances surrounding displacement often disrupt the normal trajectory of life for young people. Many New Scots have experienced significant delays in their education, personal development, and social integration due to the challenges of forced migration. Young people who have been through such experiences often require additional time and support to process their trauma and adapt to their new environment.
GREC’s Me-Time counselling service is here to assist children and young people in navigating challenges such as stress, anxiety, or social pressures. We offer a safe and therapeutic environment where they can explore their feelings and develop healthy coping strategies. Our qualified counsellors are trained to work with young people, helping them build resilience, confidence, and emotional well-being.
The service is provided by a team of professionally trained volunteer counsellors.

GREC is a registered organisational member with COSCA. All our counsellors have postgraduate diplomas in counselling, and are members of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and/or COSCA (Confederation of Scottish Counselling Agencies). They receive specialised trainings on equality, diversity, cultural diversity and are with experience to work with children and young people.
Referrals can be made by teachers, parents, school nurses, social workers, GPs, and by the children and young people themselves. Currently the referral is only open to New Scots in Aberdeenshire area.
